“All we do is try to have success based on nothing.” Bob Dylan
Yezael is an eccentric and daring fashion brand based in Milan, created in 2014 by the artistic Italian designer Angelo Cruciani.
For fall winter 2019/20 the designer interpreted the red carpet as a metaphor – a moment of maximum visibility for real or presumed celebrities, corresponding to their highest aspiration for followers, pursuing a dream of physical appearances and narcissism. Personalities and bodies are illuminated by the light of thousand flashes, while for a few seconds they are glorified on the altar of inconsistency.
In contrast, on the other side of the universe there is the real world- composed of different characters – who are more authentic and less acceptable. An unassuming stage of diverse ethnic groups, of self-realisation and disrespect for social and aesthetic conventions.
The contrast between the two parallel realities accrues every single day on Instagram pages, where false and truth are mixed. The articles of the Yezael collection transpire from this fragmented universe, the contrast of human and digital, high and low, popular and intellectual, real and virtual.
The collection ranges from Menswear to womenswear presenting underwear as well as streetwear. Classic tailoring is mixed with pieces in velvet, jacquard, vinyl and 3D effect fabrics. Colours range from eye-catching red or shiny silver to bright blue, black and grey.
Yezael – in the Judaism and Christianity mythology – is the angel of encounters, love and togetherness – a concept emphasized in the brand logo by the circle connecting the 3 branches of the letter Y.
The Y monogram of Yezael stands out in the designs and becomes a symbol of a young and free tribal community that believes in positive ideals, generates inclusion and self-identificationand and is ready to change the world.
