Contemporary Copenhagen based brand, Wood Wood, presented their unisex Spring/Summer collection at London Fashion Week Men’s, inspired by elements from outdoor life in prints, styling and details.
The life in nature is the focal point of the SS19 collection that celebrates ventures into the wilderness as well as the people who choose to live outside the mainstream. The collection is dedicated to those who are active outside and to those who travel the world. Built upon a mix of authentic 90’s sports, outdoor elements and Wood Wood‘s signature looks, the label’s design team created a fresh summer collection with a light, functional and sporty feel in correspondence with the inspiration from the outside.
In the women’s collection there is a new sense of charming femininity. Draped dresses and skirts with colourful all over prints are paired with structed boxy jackets in herringbone cotton and delicate lace hole knit tops, creating new proportions and silhouettes. Loose tailored suits in drapy lines creats a playful mosaic of elevated staple pieces. An oversized jumpsuit with contrast workwear stitches in a lightweight navy twill brings the balance between chic and cool. The classic Wood Wood tracksuit is adorned with a novelty embroidered tape adding a quirky clash and ruffle dress necklines gives a sporty feel to the feminine styles.
The men’s collection is focused on new silhouettes and shapes to reflect today’s modern and active young men. Key pieces include loose cropped trousers in sporty lightweight crisp cotton with elastic waistband and three stitch details paired with a slightly oversized track top hooded parka with subtle branding, either in a pale sand hue or a dark shade, to complete the look. A Japanese workwear inspired look presents a causal filed shirt and cropped trousers in dry cotton twill. Black oversized shell jackets with strong references to outdoor heritage, are made in a crisp Japanese water resistant woven with additional corduroy detailing.
For both men and women, the collection features a strong knit reference with a nod to Nordic folklore. The collection also includes various colourways of a new unisex trail inspired trainers constructed in mesh and suede sitting atop a white rubber sole.
As always, graphic T-shirts are an important part of the collection and in correspondence with the brand’s corporate social responsibility focus – all made of organic and Oeke-tex (Sustainable Textile Production) standards featuring 100 certified cotton.
Once again this season, the Danish brand presented a fun, carefree collection with an urban feel and the simplistic, effortless scandi approach.
