The Wood Wood AW19 collection presented at London Fashion Week Men’s, celebrates the great mountains and adventures in nature. The collection mixes the contemporary streetwear of the Danish brand with elements from outdoor living in both prints, styling and details.
As Wood Wood’s Spring/Summer collection ‘The outside’ found its main inspiration in nature and the wilderness, the AW19 collection continues to celebrate the outdoors, but this time the theme revolves around skiing and mountains. There are alpine references throughout the collection with a nostalgic vibe In both print stories, details and patches. The title, a nod to Spacemen 3, is a direct reference to mountain descents but also refers to a certain state of mind. Alpine elements are found on some of the prints and the collection also features hints of army influences like an updated version of the camouflage pattern from the W.W. archive.
The brand continues with the women’s silhouettes this season, balancing between functional, sporty and chic. With a strong nod to historic utilitarian and military references, the skiing theme is also evident in patches used throughout and in an all-over alpine patch print on flattering satin styles. Sporty jerseys, inspired by skiing underwear, and ribbed wool ear warmers with a seasonal silicone patch. We could also see chunky oversized hand knits in aqua tones, a soft velvet story in dusty mint and deep navy accompanied with fitted chenille stitch knits and a super soft mohair jumper in bright green with a seasonal flag label.
In correspondence with the main theme, the men’s collection features prints and graphics taking inspiration from vintage skiing and mountain life. Mixing a simplistic Nordic winter look in woolen and chunky fabrics with a performance element. The result is a comfortable and functional collection for the modern man true to the brand’s style.
For both men and women, the AW19 collection features denim in autumnal deep rust, chunky half cardigan stitch jumpers with new W.W. pullers – perfect for an after ski retreat – and heavy unisex leather boots with hiking laces. Other accessories include soft tartan scarfs, lightweight gym bags, neoprene tech gloves, bucket hats and much more. As always, graphic T-shirts are an important staple of the brand and in correspondence with the brand’s CSR focus they are all made of organic cotton.
