Contemporary Copenhagen based brand Wood Wood presented their AW18 unisex collection at the Swiss Church London as part of London Fashion Week Men’s. The collection was entitled ‘Before and After’ and fuses the contemporary streetwear of Wood Wood with elements of Americana. The main inspiration was the transition from childhood to adulthood with classic American wardrobe stables updated in look and feel.
Several print stories speak to the theme of growing up and learning to stand on one’s own feet. The ‘Before and After’ stories in the collection are mixed with traditional American elements such as the story of patchwork, army surplus and raw denim. These elements are all part of traditional American youth culture and they are tweaked and reworked in the collection to complement the contemporary streetwear aesthetics of the brand.
Key items include classic woolen coats with detachable nylon hoods, updated puffer jackets with Primaloft insulation in correspondence with our CSR focus and delicate patchwork printed silk dresses. The collection additionally introduces a unisex sneaker inspired by classic 80s runners in four different iterations.
The colour palette is centred around muted tones with pops of bright red and bright blue. In consonance with the focal points of the collection, main materials include corduroy, denim, army twill, heavy wool, delicate silk and melange knit alongside more technical garments incorporating Primaloft insulation.
