Internationally-acclaimed designer duo Johnny Talbot and Adrian Runhof presented a beautiful spring/summer 2018 collection ‘Flowers never fail you’ at Paris Fashion Week, featuring bold colours, lots of flowers and cool 70’s inspired silhouettes with hair and make up to match.
The message through this collection was: “Create love, not war. Stay strong. Be cool. And if it’s too loud, turn it up.“
This message was translated into delicate, fluid garments such as cocktail dresses and evening gowns; from a billowing cumulus to a diaphanous degradé to a mille-feuilles of net and chiffon, all embellished with hand-embroidered 3D-chiffon and crystal flowers. All in a delicious palette of silk mousseline and what is clearly the fabric of the moment, tulle.
Garments included party outfits of fluid silk shantung, a century-long celebrated classic from legendary fabric house taroni, in five mood-enhancing colours with an incredible movement, fall and texture in a striking colour range.
We saw pale blue cotton poplin pinstripe shirting, embroidered with sequin and rhinestone daisies combined with a sepia, forest and cognac cotton twill – every seam, edge and contour topstitched with a thick, contrasting silk thread, no doubt the detail of the moment.
Flower-power silk jacquard blazers made appearence with matching trousers, dresses and gowns, utilized in a new jacquard weaving technique that allows eight different threads to be present, each thread maintaining its true vibrant colour.
The pieces completed each other, creating a celebration of colours as the collection became a complete work of art on the runway.
