Soeren Le Schmidt AW22 – Fairytale

This season, Danish designer Soeren Le Schmidt takes us on a fairytale ride at Tivoli Gardens during Copenhagen Fashion week. the designer drew his inspiration for this season’s collection from the legendary Danish master of fairy tales – Hans Christian Andersen and fittingly chose to present his AW collection at HC Andersen’s “Den Flyvende Kuffert” iconic ride at the gardens.

The common thread for the collection is our desire to fit in, belong and be recognised –  Soeren Le Schmidt believes that Christian Andersen’s approach to storytelling and the way he presents his charachters stand the test of time and is still very much relevant these days, appealing to all readers across all ages, languages and cultures.

In the same sense, Soeren Le Schmidt’s approach to design matches the renowned author’s approach to adventure and storytelling technique. No matter who you are and where you come from, the designer will create something beautiful for you – always based your personality, figure and taste – which always challenges the designer and evokes his creativity.

As always, we love the designer sharp & skilful tailoring that has become his trademark. Black and white, still very much on trend, appeared in form of sophisticated suits. A Classy notch collar double breasted coat dress that was teamed with a bucket hat gave us a romantic 60’s vibe mixed with a sharp, military style while the hair styles were definitely stuff made in fairy tales. splashes of petroleum blue also appear softening the vibe combined with feminine dresses which are also one of the designers strengths.

The collection is once again centred around sustainability – as he stated before- Soeren Le Schmidt has prepared most of the collection in leftover fabric and continues his collaboration with furniture company Alton & Heim to minimize waste. As the textiles are primarily leftover furniture fabrics they also heavier durable textiles, which are, as Le Schmidt says – also very long lasting.
