This season, contemporary menswear line FRENN was present for the first time at London Fashion Week Men’s. The Helsinki-based brand launched in 2013 by Jarkko Kallio and Antti Laitinen is a refined combination of relaxed sophistication with a tailored twist. And laudably, FRENN is as wholesome on the inside as it is on the outside with pieces responsibly hand-manufactured in Northern Europe from premium, ecologically sourced European materials
FRENN might be all about Nordic simplicity but there is much more to the pieces than meets the eye (this is apparently also true of Finns who might appear quiet at first glance but turn out to be honest, reliable and easy going, when you get to know them!)
For AW17, the classic palette of greys and blues has been offset with fabrics such as wool-alpaca-mohair and wool flannel. As well as checked patterns (reminiscent of Helsinki’s city plan), the brand has played with volume and quirky hybrid shapes to invigorate its pieces. Brand favourites such as organic denim and indigo jersey put in appearance and a new merino wool knitwear line full of subtle details has also been included in the AW17 collection.
