N&S GAIA returned to London Fashion week for the third time presenting the SS18 collection that revolves around the transformation of existence surrounding Mother Earth. The collection paints the story of how nature starts with almost nothing – just a molecule; where us as humanity and as souls create our own world of existence.
The shapes were fluid with constructed drapes offset by elements such as wide flairs, pleating and volumised sleeves. Hand woven detailing will sit alongside Bugle beads embroidery. The luxurious pieces were teamed with mesmerizing glitter makeup to complete the looks.
The label, originating from New Delhi was founded by designer Sidharth Sinha in 2013 and is known for the unique design and fabric techniques. The brand is a big advocate of mindful production and all things upcycling. The importance of this factor is reflected in the name: the ‘N’ and ‘S’ in N&S GAIA standing for Nature and Sustainability.
This season we saw the signature style of feminine colourful flowing silks punctuated by wide- legs, exaggerated ruffles, sweeping hems and bold 3D embroidery. The brand sits at the forefront of technologic fabric techniques; with contributing to the successful rebirth and modernisation of Dakmanda – a hand-woven embroidery technique of the Garo tribe in North East India.
