Berlin-based designer Nobieh Talaei presented AW19 collection for her brand NOBI TALAI at Paris Fashion Week. The brand shifted its primary showplace to Paris in 2016 and has since staged a runway presentation each season.
This season the designer presented an exciting new junction for Fall/Winter 2019/20 where a sharp sartorial edge picks up the pace, and modern tailoring, cosy nonchalance, advanced geometrics and nomadic echoes joins together smoothly.
Talaei takes a flexible and somewhat personal approach to today’s urban tailoring, with signature Nobi Talai details such as slit sleeves, detachable pleated aprons, sash ties and zip-off hems allowing the wearer to customize her look.
Blazers are tucked into trousers or morph into outerwear, trench coats are sized up and jumpsuits walk the line between utilitarian and refined. Big flannel scarves or woven in jacquard stripes appear for poncho-like winter wraps, while the urban-based pop geometrics of contemporary artist Sarah Morris provide the inspiration for this season’s house prints.
An expanded knitwear range was added to the variety as well as fluid silk tops and dresses balancing the masculine checks which also appear slickly coated, combined with leather or mohair jacquard. The looks are polished yet comfortable, constructed but not stiff – perfect for the fashion nomad’s ongoing journey.
