Natasha Zinko AW 2019 – #imupnext

For Her AW19, presented at high street store NEXT on Oxford Street as a part of London Fashion Week, designer Natasha Zinko finds excitement in the everyday – from the people we see on the street, to the flashes of colour in a passing crowd that jolts us to our senses.

Influenced by the Chinese artist Ai Weiwei’s ability to turn the ordinary into extraordinary, Zinko presented gender-fluid pieces in puffer jackets and lumberjack shirts. A mix of print and plaid bring out the colour palette – pink clashes with aquamarine and tangerine, while faux fur and flirty feathers add texture. Soft grey wools and camouflage fabrics from previous seasons reappear as part of a continuous story –to reuse and repurpose all textiles in a sustainable, closed loop production cycle.

Accessories continue the theme of contrasts – sneakers and stilettos, micro bags and maxi holdalls, sophisticated leather gloves and hippie bucket hats. Complete the looks on this playful, colourful collection.

Queue photography was turned into a print, updated with acid-bright smiley face emojis. Slogans like ‘I’m Up Next’ and ‘No Refunds, No Returns’ are splashed across the collection — ‘this is merch worth waiting in line for’ Jokes the designer.

This is Natasha Zinko Autumn/Winter 2019, and you’re free to be who you want to be. You’re Up Next.’
