Master of effortless chic, Danish brand Munthe presented the SS20 collection at Copenhagen Fashion Week, finding inspiration in Romanian sculptor, painter and photographer Constantin Brâncuși.
Designer and creative director Naja Munthe created a collection inspired by the idea of ‘Being real is a lot more than just looking like the nature’ following the way Brâncuși shaped every sculpture individually with his own hands and tools -meaning that even works bearing the same name or exploring the same motif are unique.
The pieces were inspired by Brâncuși’s image as a farmer – work shirt, sandals, wide trousers and an oversize coat. Key pieces such as oversized cable knits, bomber jackets with a twist, pleats trousers, suits and oversize coats.
As always, comfort and functionality is key, and relaxed, feminine-meets-masculine silhouettes appear in pinstripes, windowpane checks, denim, leather and silk. Hoodies and T-shirts feature inspiration modelled on Brâncuși’s sketching process.
The fresh styles are teamed with statement sandals and trainers. Chic, oversized glasses complete the looks. Colour palette is of gold, khaki, warm brown, delicate pink and blue. And bold styles with signature print add a youthful rawness to this beautiful, glamorous collection.
