Martin Asbjørn SS19 – ‘100% SUCCESS CLUB’
Danish Designer Martin Asbjørn presented yet another incredibly wearable collection: ‘100 success club’ at Copenhagen Fashion Week, showcasing soft terry cottons and tracksuit galore and combining tailoring with his signature relaxed silhouettes.
Revisiting his tailoring roots, Asbjørn looks beyond streetwear and once again blurs the lines between tailoring and sportswear – finding that perfect spot between formal and casual wear.
Blending nostalgia with present day and proposing a 21st century take on eighties’ menswear, the designer found inspiration in the style icons of the decade. The unwavering confidence of the Wall Street banker, the aloof charm of the men of the French Riviera, even the low-key football casuals and terracewear’s bold hues and geometric patterns.
“Neither streetwear nor straight-up luxury, I wanted the collection to scream confidence” explains Asbjørn.
The collection features a parade of relaxed suiting and leisurewear, styles included an off-white leather fringed safari jacket, corduroy two-piece sets in bright aqua and blazing yellow and of course an oversized silk shirt, this time in Asbjørn’s eye-catching print of the season.
There are definitely pieces that can be worn straight off the runway: unlined, lightweight blazers; organic cotton tees emblazoned with the new sportswear inspired logo; Asbjørn’s signature drawstring trousers- this season’s collection magnifies the designer’s well-known luxurious and understated aesthetics, with stand-out styles and every day wardrobe staples.
