This summer, designer Marcel Ostertag presented his Spring/Summer 2019 collection on a beautifully decorated rooftop on a hot summer day with clear blue sky, which were the perfect setting for this colourful collection, presented as a part of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Berlin – with a front Row filled as always, with well-known German bloggers alongside models and local celebrities.
The collection titled: ‘muse’ was once again inspired by the seventies. The designer presented his interpretation to the era with an interplay of dance, music and art.
This season for the first time in twelve years, Ostertag also presented a collection for men. The designs, both for men and women were full of colours, large floral prints, recurring fringe trims, flared trousers and one extravagant silhouette after another. We also saw the designer’s signature caftan looks in dazzling shades of yellow and fringed variants. Sheer dresses with attached flowers of the same colour, a figure-hugging mini dress with yellow and coral stripes works solo as well as combined with a dazzling coat. For men there were shorts, jacket in a wild pattern in blue and white, a scarf in rainbow colours, coats in lace and long dress trousers in bold sequins.
The rainbow not only provided the colours in this collection, but also stands as a symbol for departure, change and peace. It is also fitting that Marcel Ostertag focuses on sustainability: as well as being renowned for paying attention to quality and workmanship, he is also known for producing his designs in Germany.
This colourful, striking collection tells the story of the designer who is inspired by his loyal customers, his family, especially his mother Doris, and in his own words: ‘every single one sitting here is kissed by the Muse’.
