For Georgian sisters Nina and Gvantsa Macharashvili of the Katy Perry-endorsed label Mach & Mach, this collection presented at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia was about much more than fashion. “It’s really an SOS for every human being that we need to change and protect our oceans,” said Gvantsa. The duo worked with crystals, creating a stake on glittering elements and shiny plastics to symbolise and celebrate water’s beauty.
The looks included – clingy net dresses that shimmered in black and red, floor-length lingerie dresses, flared mesh dresses and sheer dresses adorned with ruffles, embroidery and sequins – and were well-crafted and appealing. We also saw trousers with sequin fringe and patterns such as floral prints made of beads and sequins and patent leather costume. The colour palette featured creamy, red, violet, dark-blue and black teamed with statement purses in the shape of bombs and mules made out of iridescent plastic with round steel handles and designer’s footwear – open toe heels, boots and mule shoes.
