Belgium-based brand LÉO presented their AW19 collection ‘TRANCE’ at Paris Fashion week. The brand, which was founded by Antwerp Academy-trained designer Leonneke Derksen and sales director Matthias Medaer specializes in fashion-forward garments with an awkward twist.
This season the brand resumes the exploration between trash and sophistication. ‘Trance’ stands for a duality that is following nostalgic references from a space between Goa gatherings and esoteric yoga addictions.
Inspiration for the collection was found in both the origin of psychedelic and religious aesthetics as well as its divers take-ons by the mainstream over several decades.
Indomanian inspired graphics and jewellery are balanced out with euro trance details such as raw cut denim and bleach dye experiments.
The brand’s signature use of clashing colours and materials continues, featuring asymmetric cuts and a colour palette of yellow, red, purple, black and white. Over-the-knee boots completed the looks and once again Léo creats an edgy collection capturing the energy between luxury, avant-garde and streetwear.
