For his AW19 collection Korean designer EUDON CHOI looks to the surrealist art of Meret Oppenheim and photographer Guy Bourdin. The collection, presented at London Fashion Week, is strongly influenced by Oppenheim’s playful yet powerful sense of self and Bourdin’s contrasting colour palettes.
The name of collection comes from Oppenheim’s famous series of naked images by Man Ray entitled Erotique Voilée.
While Oppenheim provides the foundation for the collection, EUDON CHOI also looked to the iconic highly stylised, radical and influential images of Guy Bourdin and his unique blend of surreal and erotic imagery also adds a vibrant dynamic and provides a strong counterpoint to Oppenheim, blending charm, glamour and desire.
The collection features the designer’s signature strong tailored pieces, which accentuate the female form mixed with soft and sensual styles in elaborate and fluid fabrics. The result is an ultra-feminine collection that is stimulating and sophisticated, yet celebrates femininity.
The looks reflect the colours and glamour of the 1970’s surrealist movement featuring oversized collars, corduroy suits and trench coats in a colour palette of beige, white and brown mixed with strong shades of red, vibrant orange and Shamrock Green.
