German designer Danny Reinke presented his SS20 casual couture collection UNBROKEN ENDEAVOR at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Berlin.
This season the collection focuses on the longing for protection and security that is anchored in each and every one of us. This longing is reflected in the way we deal with tradition – protecting, reviving and developing it.
According to the designer the collection is ‘a bridge between tradition and modernity’ inspired by the Qin Shihuangdi mausoleum – better known as the Terracotta Army – a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China.
The contrast between Chinese high culture and European style is brought to life by both traditional and knitted check patterns. Military features are mixed with corsages and bodice elements. The colour palette ranges from earthy colours to stone tones, black and orange with touches of playful red. The use of tulle transforms the uniforms of the warriors into modern evening robes and the delicate bird shaped applications symbolising freedom and strength complete the collection.
