Designer Christian Siriano presented his FW19 collection at New York fashion Week in a beautiful location with Raymond Hood’s Art Deco architecture and a 360 views of the Manhattan skyline. The front row was busy with stars like Debra Messing, Mariska Hargitay, Christina Hendricks and Christina Ricci.
This season the collection was inspired by a trip to the future ‘A world where we live as a society in an outer space land. A new culture floating in space with communities and a thriving social calendar. It would be a dream fantasy world created for people to escape to’
Super model Chanel Iman kicked off the show wearing a knee-length silver faux-fur followed by a range of silhouettes fit for a variety of body types presented by models such as Ashley Graham. The designer is known as one of the pioneers of the inclusion of models of all sizes on the runway.
The Season 4 Project Runway winner created a collection filled with silver hammered silks, voluminous dresses, quilted jackets and oversized textured evening gowns. ‘I wanted the collection to feel bold, powerful and strong but still feminine and beautiful’ said the designer.
The colour palette was of deep, striking silvery greys, blues, purples, and black. Stand out looks were a disco ball-reminiscent trousers suits, a purple ruffled mini-dress, and a simplistically chic one-shouldered gown with the sparkling crystal details.
The models’ faces were dotted with Swarovski crystals like sparkling freckles and those with long hair had silver metal chains weaved in to enhance the space-age attitude.
Siriano’s fantasy evening gowns, cocktail dresses and tailored sportswear alongside his intricately detailed shoes and accessories, can be found at Neiman Marcus and other department stores and specialty boutiques around the globe.
