Los Angeles Fashion Week happens each spring and fall right after the Paris women’s ready-to-wear shows. Local shows usually provide some much-needed exposure for emerging local and less-known labels.
Philadelphia based brand Burring Guitars presented their spring/summer 2018 collections at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. The evening got off to a rocky start with the show starting more than an hour late. But Burning Guitars’ presented a bold, and over-the-top collection for anyone that is not a rock-‘n’-roll frontman.
We first spotted Burning Guitars on the runway at Atlantic City Fashion Week a few years ago; The brand draws inspiration from music, art and pop culture to create their own unique fashion voice. This season the collection presented a diverse range of LA style body hugging evening dresses and fun street wear, sports jerseys and a very innovative mix of textures and patterns. Colourful Flowers clashed with dots and stripes. pink animal print appeared alongside with the American flag pattern which was an ongoing motif throughout the collection.
The Burning Guitars was founded by Smiley Jonez and includes designer Saiyd Muhammed, and executive Kenneth Jackson.
The brand’s overall goal is to change the world through fashion one needle and thread at a time, and give everybody in the world the feeling of what it means to ‘Live Life As A Rockstar’.”
