London based Taiwanese designer APUJAN created another magical collection presented at London Fashion Week – finding inspiration once again, in literature. This season the inspiration came from stories focused around time: time thieves, stolen time, time observers, interweaving timelines, time movement, and confused time.
Three particular books provided the main ideas for the collection: Thief of Time by Terry Pratchett, The Thief of Time by John Boyne and A Thief of Time by Tony Hillerman – all holding the same title but with different stories, concepts and themes. Symbolising the flow of time in the garments were clocks and stars, deadwood, dinosaur bones alongside flowers -blossoming or dying. Dresses featuring book pages and stories completed the imaginative narrative.
APUJAN leads us into his fantasy world – and it’s a celebration of prints, florals, evening gowns and oversized suites together with his signature knitwear. This season the theme stays true to the brand’s style, featuring his recognizable feminine silhouettes and innovative tailoring.
Once again we see oriental detailing and western contours in his designs with additional details drawing on the traditions of fantasy and imagination. Last season’s sporting theme continues this season in several of the pieces. Accessories include 100% cashmere scarves, hand-woven woolen hats, 3-D printed glasses and traditional festive, floral headwear. Footwear this season was once again in collaboration with NIKE, providing the APUJAN trainers – adding to the sporty chic feel of the collection.
