‘Unbound’ is a collection by Spanish designer of Venezuelan descent Alexis Carballosa. The collection was inspired by the unexplored and delves into the contrasts between the underwater world and the unlimited universe. Each look was presented with dramatic volume in the sleeves and trains, whilst accentuating the waist.
The idea in their construction was to find the balance and manipulate it within different fabrics to flatter the
feminine figure. The colour palette sees hues of blue, green and yellow with accents of metallic adding another dimension of texture.
The finale look is an all-black gown made from gazer silk and organza, complimented with this seasons
signature sleeves, amplified to create a powerful silhouette.
“One of my primary goals when designing this collection was to explore the balance between structure and
fluidity while challenging the stereotypical idea of what a fall collection is supposed to be”.
All of the accessories have been hand-created by Carballosa using repurposed materials. The materials turn into art and become indistinguishable from their original form which very much falls in line with the designer’s
belief in creating awareness of the environmental movement through his collection.
