Feminine everyday dressing is in the centre this season for the A.W.A.K.E. MODE SS20 collection presented at London fashion Week.
Founded in 2012 by Natalia Alaverdian, the brand is focused on classic tailoring and quirky details. The A.W.A.K.E. MODE SS20 woman comes with a curious appeal -rebellious and seductive. For her, Alaverdian created a quietly powerful wardrobe with a deceptive simplicity. Executed largely in a self-restrained palette of black, white and delicate nudes, with flashes of vivid colours.
Within the precise crisp cottons, intricate pleats and transparent rubber lives the mix of androgyny and hyper-femininity which defines A.W.A.K.E. Mode. There’s a conscious reassertion of the brand’s signature pieces in razor-sharp asymmetric tailoring and deconstruction; pencil skirts are rendered in masterfully draped vegan leather, back-to-front shirts fall in fluid silk. Buttoned-up, buttoned-down, taken-apart suiting is at once both rigorous and reckless.
A.W.A.K.E. Mode’s accessories offer is elevated and expanded: quilted leather turbo-sized clutches, sculpted electric blue bucket bags. Strappy sling-backs in a rainbow of colourways come in high heels.
This season, the singular intention of the label continues to be removal of barriers between day wear and evening. introducing elegant wit mixed with a subtle strangeness.
