Christopher RÆBURN presented ‘React Now‘ at London Fashion Week Men’s continuing the brand’s sustainability narrative

The Fashion Industry is very big on the concept of sustainability at the moment, but Christopher Raeburn and his brand has been a passionate supporter of conscientious consumption for almost a decade.

The SS19 collection was no different, stressing on the issue of consumption asking the viewer to react now – to choose well and choose less. Considering the harsh reality that forces us to take actions, SS19 is a reaction to that reality, and the need to layering which plays a key role in the collection. Protection, on every level, is more important than ever.

The collection started with a stunning taser suit originally designed for training, allowing the wearer to run, fight, function, and provides the narrative that asks the wearer to stand for something. The Norwegian snow parkas, originally manufactured for life in Northern Scandinavia, were created to prepare the wearer for the colder weather.

REMADE pieces were developed to meet the demands of the extreme changes in temperature. Ghost pieces in the form of German rain capes REMADE from original protective rain capes, transparent and unique. Quilted liners were lightweight and flexible and can be layered for extra warmth. And leading us into spring are the iconic ribbon parachute pieces. Each piece deconstructed and then intelligently reconstructed in the Raeburn East London Lab to create a new piece.

This season the brand continues through collaboration with TIMBERLAND presenting items which were sourced from flea-markets and vintage shops to be re-imagined as contemporary garments. The sustainability carries through the collection with images obtained from NASA of melting icecaps that were applied to a range of items including kaftans, shirts and shorts.

The Iconic giant panda served as a reminder of their vulnerability in the face of environmental destruction, flipped upside down on crews and t-shirts. The pandas nodded to their off-cut animal making workshops that donate all proceedings to WWF.

The CHRISTOPHER RAEBURN SS19 collection will be available at the end of the year. the current range is available at   https://www.christopherraeburn.co.uk/
